Centered around the scenic spring water of Lake Andrea, the park features year-round recreation from swimming and kayaking in summer to ice fishing in winter.
With trails, ball fields, playgrounds, and a state-of-the-art sports recreation facility, Prairie Springs Park is a vibrant hub where residents and visitors of all ages can stay active, no matter the weather.
Overall management of the park's sports programming and rentals is done through the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex.
Enjoy a variety of water activities like swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, fishing (including ice fishing), and windsurfing on Lake Andrea.
Relax at the sandy beach with a designated swimming area, or rent a boat seasonally from Froggy’s Landing (fee-based). Bring your pup to the dedicated dog beach on the lake’s north side (for free) so your furry friends can splash and play!
Take it to the trails! Go for a walk or run on the 2.3-mile paved walking/jogging trail encircling Lake Andrea.
For a more natural experience, the 2-mile Hackbarth Trail near the Lake Andrea Beach, winds through wetlands and features a boardwalk and an observation deck with views of the Des Plaines River. Prairie Farms Trail, a crushed-stone path located near the lake’s northern area, is also two miles. Both of these trails are connected by a newly built bridge on Wilmot Road. View our Trail Map.
The area offers plenty of recreational options, including sand volleyball pits on Lake Andrea, baseball / softball fields, and an archery range.
Families can enjoy three playgrounds, while open green spaces provide the perfect spot for picnics, kite flying, and casual sports.
The Wruck Beach Pavilion located on the shores of Lake Andrea offer an enclosed, climate-controlled facility with a kitchen and fireplace, accommodating up to 72 people, available for year-round rental.
The park also offers various picnic areas and shelters suitable for family gatherings, corporate events, or community celebrations.
